I can connect to my QNAP devices using DDNS/WAN IP when I am away from home, but why can't I do it at home?
This is because your router does not support "NAT loopback", so that a machine on your local network (e.g. behind your router) cannot connect to a forward-facing WAN IP address (such as 54.216.36.89) of a machine (in this case, your QNAP device(s)) that are also on your local network. Please use a LAN IP to access your QNAP devices.
